Mandela’s grandson to appear in court today

JOBURG – Grandson of the late former president Nelson Mandela, will appear in court again.

Grandson of the late former president Nelson Mandela appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 6 November.

He made a brief appearance at the court after he had learned that the case would be postponed to 9 November.

The 24-year-old is accused of allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl. The incident is said to have occurred at a popular restaurant in Greenside on 7 August. He was then granted bail of R7 000 on 25 August.

The court also requested that the accused not try and communicate with the girl in question, after he had sent a video on a social media site to her.

The accused did not deny having sex. He maintained that it was consensual sex.

He has also been reported as saying that he wants the courts to treat him as a normal person and not a ‘Mandela.’
