UPDATE: Body removed from scene of the crash

BORDEAUX - Police remove the body after microlight crashes near Old Parktonian Club along Jan Smuts Avenue on 6 November.

Police have removed the body from the scene after a microlight crashed near Old Parktonian Sports Club in Bordeaux, Randburg.

Provincial spokesperson Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng said, “We have opened an inquest and we are investigating. The person who died is not known yet.”

Late in the afternoon a microlight crashed near a sportsground along Jan Smuts Avenue leaving one person dead. According to Russell Meiring of ER24, the paramedics along with other services arrived on the scene and found the smouldering wreckage near the sports ground.

Meiring added that on assessment, paramedics found a body lying near the wreckage. Unfortunately the patient had already succumbed to multiple, fatal injuries.

The patient was later declared dead by other services. An eyewitness later told paramedics that she had witness the aircraft apparently spinning out of control.
