The men and women South African national hockey teams walked away as champions of the Greenfields African Hockey Championship on 1 November.
SA women’s team went into the final undefeated and with clean sheets across all of their games.
The women’s competition format followed that of a round robin, this meant SA entered the final game with 15 points while their opposition Ghana, had 13 points.
The game kept spectators on their seats as Ghana defended well against the fierce SA players.
A strong attacking force from SA meant that Ghana did not have a long enough chance to use the ball.
SA women smashed in a final goal to see them being crowned African champions. The final score against Ghana was SA 3–0.
