Two people injured in Honeydew accident

HONEYDEW – A taxi driver is trapped inside his vehicle after a car accident, and is removed by fire fighters.

A taxi crashed into the back of a van at the corner of Christiaan de Wet Road and Dolfyn Street on 26 October leaving two drivers injured.

Henrich Nell from Help 24 said that the taxi driver had moderate injuries. “The taxi driver had priority injuries, which needed to be attended to but not life threatening,” said Nell. He also said that the taxi driver was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by the fire department.

Eric Nicholls from Vital Med attended to the van driver. Nicholls said that the driver had moderate injuries. Both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment.

An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous explained, “The taxi almost rolled over but it was supported by the back of the van it crashed into.” He said he ran to go help along with other eyewitnesses and found the taxi driver trapped in the vehicle with the steering wheel collapsed on his legs.
