IEB anticipates results will be released to pupils on 31 December

JOBURG – 6 033 candidates from schools in Gauteng are writing NSC examination from IEB.

This year, 6 033 candidates from 93 schools in Gauteng are writing their National Senior Certificate (NSC) from the Independent Examinations Board (IEB)

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IEB Anne Oberholzer explained that 10 228 full-time candidates and 636 private candidates were registered with the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) in the country and the neighbouring countries including Mozambique, Namibia and Swaziland.

“These candidates will conduct their examinations at 200 examination centres spread across the country.

“The IEB has over 25 years’ experience in offering school-leaving examinations as well as examinations at NQF Level 1 for adults in the industry,” she explained.

The IEB has set examination papers in 66 NSC subjects, 14 of which are non-official languages, and also Advanced Programme examinations in three subjects which are mathematics, English home language and Afrikaans home language.

These papers are written by pupils in IEB as well as state schools. These subjects are rated by United Kingdom National Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) as equal in demand to A-level courses.

“While there have been some assessments during the year to date, the main NSC examinations will continue until Friday 28 November. Marking is centralised and will commence on 6 December in Johannesburg. The IEB anticipates that results will be released to pupils on 31 December,” concluded Oberholzer.
