Fibrehoods are growing in numbers

Blairgowrie– Vumatel is endorsed by a number of additional suburbs who have joined the growing number of the network.

Vumatel has been recognised by five additional suburbs to be a part of their growing list of fibrehoods in South Africa.

The Vuma network will be installed in suburbs such as Melrose, Gallo Manor and Forest Town in the first quarter of next year joining other suburbs who have experienced the benefits of Vumatel FTTH in 2016.

Head of Gallo Manor FTTH project Brian Seligmann said Gallo Manor issued a technology neutral RFP to make sure that the best solution to the broadband problem is addressed.

” It was primarily broadband-linked however, other services such as OTT TV/Video and the connection of our guardhouses and CCTV infrastructure were critical elements too,” he said.

Gallo Manor was evaluated based on a broad selection of 13 criteria that included price, community involvement, connectivity for religious institutions, schools and technical solutions.

The Vuma network is available in suburbs such as Parkhurst, Parktown North, Greenside, Killarney, Riviera , Saxonworld and Parkwood. In addition, the fibrehoods are under construction in Blairgowrie, Victory Park, Linden, Hurlingham, Glenadrienne, Willowild, Riepen Park, Bryanston and Emmarentia.

Vumatel announced they had finalised a deal with Investec in which the South African and International Specialist Bank and Asset Manager invested in a minority stake in the business. The investment ensures that Vumatel is positioned to increase distribution of FTTH to any community in South Africa that requests for it in their suburb.

“This is an extremely exciting period for the company and we continue to focus on our commitment to deploy affordable high speed FTTH to 100 000 homes by the end of 2016,” said Vumatel fibre CEO Neil Schoeman.
