A case of reckless driving opened

OLIVEDALE–- Douglasdale Police are investigating charges of reckless driving against the Golf driver who fled the scene on Windsor Way on 16 October.

A case of reckless driving has been opened against the Golf driver who was involved in a road collision on President Fouché and Windsor Way roads, on the evening of 16 October.

This is according to Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, who confirmed that JMPD officers attended an accident in which two Golf cars collided resulting in the death of a woman.

Previsously it was reported that the road collision occurred on Bellairs Drive, but Chief Supt Minnaar confirmed that it was on Windsor Way and President Fouché Road.

“[JMPD officer] They opened a docket of reckless driving against the driver of a Golf at the Douglasdale Police Station. The accident will be investigated further by an investigating officer from SAPS,” stated Chief Supt Minnaar.

“Late last night our NHW patrollers came accross a massive accident on Windsor Way in Olivedale at the nursery. Two VW Golfs had a head-on collision. Driver of one of the vehchiles fled the scene. Unfortunately, the lady driver of the other vehicle passed away. Our condolences go out to the family of the lady. Thank you to the patrollers and the paramedics that tried there best to save her life.”

Chief Supt Minnaar added that police will investigate the allegations that the second driver fled the scene.

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan of Douglasdale Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing into the charges of reckless driving against the other driver who fled the scene.
