Petrol and diesel price to change

JOBURG – Expect some price increases in petrol and diesel for October.

Petrol and diesel prices will change on 7 October.

According to the Department of Energy the fuel price adjustment is as follows:

  • Petrol 93 ULP and LRP will decrease by 2 cents per litre in retail price, whereas Petrol 95 ULP and LRP will increase by 4 cents per litre in retail price.
  • Diesel (0.05 per cent Sulphur) will increase by 53 cents per litre in wholesale price. Diesel (0.005 per cent Sulphur) will increase by 51 cents per litre in wholesale price.

Economic factors affecting the unit over/under-recoveries for the period between 28 August to 01 October are:

The average international product prices of petrol decreased while diesel and illuminating paraffin increased during the period under review.

The Rand weakened against the US Dollar, on average, when compared to the previous period. The average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate for the period 28 August to 01 October was 13.5949 compared to 12.8609 during the previous period. The weakening of the Rand against the US Dollar increased the contribution to the Basic Fuels Price on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 32.00 c/l; 30.89 c/l and 30.27 c/l respectively.
