Day 5:Flabba’s mother on the stand

KENSINGTON B – Flabba's mother testifies on the relationship between her son and the accused, Sindisiwe Manqele.

It is day five of the ‘Flabba’ murder trial at Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 11 September.

His mother, Agatha Pearl Habedi, took the witness stand.

In her testimony she explained how Flabba had forwarded her certain WhatsApp messages on 9 January at 9.06pm.

The messages revolved around a dispute between Flabba and Sindisiwe Manqele (the accused).

The message read, I don’t even know why I trusted your cheating ass. After all you cheated on Lesego’s mom with me and God knows who else.

Nkululeko ‘Flabba’ Habedi was stabbed and killed on 9 March in his home in Alexandra. Sindiswe Maqele was arrested in connection with his

death, whereafter she claimed she acted in self-defence.

The message further reads, I really hope those whores make you happy and have fun telling your daughter how you f+*/ing cheated on a woman.

She agreed with the defence attorney Norman Makhubela that they were very much in love and that it didn’t seem like a serious fight.

Habedi added, “I cannot find the words to describe the effect my son’s death had on my family.”

Nhlanhla Sibisi, the paramedic who attended to the scene of Flabba’s death, also testified.

He was unsure whether Manqele had cuts on both of her wrists – even though he was the one that bandaged her on the morning.

He also said the accused was wearing shorts and a vest but was unsure as to the colour of the vest.
