Hannah a pure star

RANDPARK RIDGE – Rising Grade 8 gymnastics star jumps through all the hoops.

Hannah Oosthuizen, a Grade 8 pupil at Rand Park High School, will represent Gauteng at the National Gym Games on 5–10 October.

Oosthuizen is relatively new in the gymnastics world –she has only been participating for about 18 months, yet has made considerable waves in this field.

She obtained five gold medals plus the highest overall score for level 4 rhythmic gymnastics at the Gold Reef Invitational Tournament, held recently at the Old Mutual Sports Hall at Wits University.

This tournament is one of the biggest invitational competitions in Gauteng, with participants competing for the honours from clubs based in Limpopo, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Gauteng.

Rising star Oosthuizen then achieved a gold medal for each of her dances in the tournament, including rope, hoop, freehand and ball.

“She has won gold at each of the competitions in which she has competed and is growing from strength to strength,” said her mother Christine.

She then went on to win five gold medals and an overall first at the Central Gauteng tournament at Wits University on 22 August and was awarded central Gauteng colours.

The success continued on 5 September, after she won three gold and two silver medals and overall first at the Gauteng Provincial tournament held at Wits and was awarded full Gauteng Colours.

She will represent her province at the National Gym Games tournament to be held at Wits.
