GALLERY: Risidale Grade R class donates to SPCA

NORTH RIDING – The Risidale Primary School Grade R class went all out to collect food and toys for animals at the Randburg SPCA.

Grade R pupils of Risidale Primary School donated dog and cat food, and toys, to the Randburg SPCA, North Riding, on 3 September.

Teacher Rosen Kaspersen said they collected the food during August, and pupils were excited and diligent in their efforts.

She added that school children collected food as part of their House of Good Citizen initiative, where the children learned about morals and values.

“We must instill these values in the children while they are still young, so that they can grow up with sound values,” Kaspersen said.

Pupils were taken on a tour of the kennels at the SPCA and were able to see animals which they had been collecting the food for.

“School children have been excited since we told them about this initiative,” added Kaspersen.

SPCA Randburg volunteers said that they appreciate the donations as they needed every little bit of contribution made by the public.

According to the organisation, animals are fed twice a day and their food storage had to be filled every three days.

They encouraged the public to get involved with the SPCA as they needed the assistance.

At the moment they are collecting books to add to their bookshop, as this was a much-needed source of income.
