4 typical Joburg spring traditions
JOBURG – ‘Spring has sprung, the grass has ris, I wonder where the birdies is?’
September is upon us and with that the arrival of spring.
Gauteng has just said goodbye to the winter blues and it is no surprise that most anyone is relishing the coming of spring.
The season of new beginnings brings with it four quintessential South African traditions:
1) The traditional braai – watch local YouTube sensation Suzelle explain how to make a braai pie.
2) Along with the fantastic aromas of braai, come the soldering mid-30-degree temperatures that the Highveld is famous for.
3) There is a downfall however, and that is hay fever. While others welcome the blooming flowers, anti-histamine stocks will be quickly depleted.
4) Swimming – there is nothing more refreshing then enjoying a braai, the high temperatures and the flowers of spring in a crystal blue swimming pool.
