Water runs on the street

BRYANBRINK – Joburg Water takes 24 hours to respond to a burst water pipe.

Joburg Water responded to a burst pipe on Vine Avenue in Bryanbrink, after a day of it gushing water.

Residents on Fleet Street which turns into Vine Avenue, witnessed water streaming down the avenue from the morning of 17 August until the morning of 18 August. Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood said, “It was reported… and now Joburg Water have come to investigate the problem.”

Technicians have redirected the water flow, but have not yet repaired the damaged pipe.

On the scene, City of Joburg Ward 104 urban inspector Nokuthula Mgobese said, “The technicians are waiting for machinery to come here in order to pull the pipe up and repair it.”

Questions were sent to Joburg Water and comment is awaited.

Councillor Wood concluded, “The response time needs to improve in order to save valuable water.”
