Players participated in various sporting codes including athletics, tennis, volleyball, netball, soccer and chess.

“This trip was very fruitful. We won all the gold medals from all tennis categories and the overall trophy,” said Colonel Odendaal.

SARPCCO competition seeks to promote, strengthen and foster joint strategies for the management of all ranks within the police force in the Southern African region.

“I think the competition had achieved its aim as we created friendship with police from other countries and establish contacts with them,” he said.

Col Odendaal further explained that the competition gave them the opportunity to enhance their fitness level and skills in sports.

“We formulated close co-operation with other police since our common goal is to fight and eradicate crime in our areas,” he said.

He thanked the community of Randburg for supporting him before he left for this year’s competition.

“Randburg residents supported me after finding out that I was selected to represent South African team. They rally behind us,” indicated Odendaal.
