GALLERY: Taekwon-Do girls

BOSKRUIN – Taekwon-Do girls can kick some rump too.

International Taekwon-Do Federation South Africa (ITFSA) welcomed two top performing junior female students.

Paula-Ivana Rebelo and Elena Vladimirova of Rand Park High School participated in the ITFSA National Open Championship on 27 June.

The students train at the Boskruin Community Centre and continue to gain highly praised titles.

Rebelo, a Grade 10 pupil, participated in junior female advanced (14–15 years old) and achieved a gold medal in the sparring category – 75kg (weight division).

She is also a holder of a first degree black belt.

During the championship, Rebelo received gold in special technique and a bronze for patterns.

Rebelo also scored the highest points in her division on the day.

Vladimirova, a Grade 8 pupil, and holder of a red belt, participated in the junior female intermediate (14–15 years old) and punched her way to and won the gold in the sparring category – 55kg (weight division), and silver for patterns and special technique.

Both students received the trophy for Best Junior Female 2015.
