VIDEO: Become body literate

NORTH RIDING — Business women's meeting engages the body and mind through movement.

Local business women and members of the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) held a meeting on 22 July at the Soli Deo Gloria Boutique Hotel in North Riding.

Susan Sloan, a white belt Nia trainer was the guest speaker at this month’s meeting, giving her unique experience on teaching people how to listen to their bodies. Nia mixes and blends dance, martial arts and the healing arts. It is a design system for sustainability in the body, offering a one-of-a-kind training programme for the body, mind, emotion and spirit.

Sloan said factors that have remained consistent in her Nia training include:

• Slow down

• Stay in the moment

• Stop, breath and reconnect.

She said Nia is designed to support your body’s way of movement, and it ultimately becomes a lifestyle. “It’s a body-mind workout. It provides comprehensive body and mind practices for self-awareness.”

SACBW is an inclusive organisation for business women in all areas and industries in the country. It offers development for all levels of business women where they can grow, learn and be challenged to excel in a supportive environment.
