The men and women at the Silver Stream Retirement Village were treated to sweets, cake and tea by Ward 99
councillor Bruce Herbert on 18 July.
Herbert is the chairperson at Silver Stream Retirement Village. Although it is not his ward, he felt a necessity to spend some time with the residents for Mandela Day.
“We treated the residents to some tea and cake in the spirit of our courageous leader Mandela,” said Herbert.
According to Herbert, this gesture seeks to give the residents something to do.
“I want to keep them busy, happy and active which makes for a much better well-being,” said Herbert.
The residents of Silver Stream had also planned a braai which they shared with Ward councillor Herbert.
