A concerned resident, Richard Lecornu, used to have his car washed at the All Saints Shopping Centre, near the Netcare Olivedale Hospital. What stopped his patronage at the car wash was the area behind the walls that he called a “dumping area”. He described the debris as garden refuse, building rubble and garbage which has a strong, unpleasant smell. This is made worse by the fact that he has witnessed loiterers using the area to relieve themselves.
Ward 101 councillor Ralf Bittkau said that he has liaised with the JMPD and they are battling to get access to the property. Bittkau added that part of the property is owned privately. “Being private property, we can’t just move in.”
Bittkau made the assurance that he is trying to action the matter but he is awaiting feedback from JMPD.
