Honeydew detective dies
HONEYDEW – Vehicle accident has claimed a detective's life who was responding to a robbery case at Cosmo City.
Honeydew Police Constable Lawrence Mutelo allegedly died while responding to a robbery case in Honeyplace complex, Cosmo City.
Acting Station Commander Colonel Tobie Terblanche confirmed, “Mutelo’s vehicle [crashed into] a pavement at 3.30 am on 12 July.”
According to Col Terblanche, Const Mutelo was part of the detective branch of Honeydew Police Station.
“We are extremely saddened by his departure. We are all distressed and everybody at the station is affected in some way,” he said.
“It is difficult to say how the [accident] occurred at this stage, however, investigations are underway,” Col Terblanche concluded.
