LINDEN – A Toyota Fortuner crashes into a house wall and lands in their swimming pool.

A white Toyota Fortuner crashed into a wall of a house on the corner of Tana Road and 5th Avenue in Linden at 9.39am on 3 July.

According to the driver (who asked not to be named) of the Toyota Fortuner, he was travelling down Tana Road. At the very same time, a white VW Polo alledgedly skipped the stop sign on 5th Avenue and hit his vehicle. He then swerved to avoid hitting a tree on the kerb and crashed into the wall of the house. JMPD and SAPS were there to assist on scene.

The damage was evident on scene as the Toyota was half submerged in the property’s swimming pool. No one was injured during the accident or at the house. The owners (who asked not to be named) of the house said, “We have constantly petitioned for the council to address the speeding on Tana Road…I hope they are not waiting for someone to die to resolve the issue.”

A tow truck arrived to tediously remove the vehicle from the swimming pool. A team of about eight men finally moved the vehicle from the property.

The owners of the house were at home at the time of the accident and immediately called the tow truck service, Linden Police and their insurance. “We need speed-slowing measures like rubble bumps for 40m down the road to ensure drivers cannot speed,” said the owner. Other residents that were at the scene agreed that the intersection and Tana Road are notorious for accidents.

Spokespersons for JMPD and Linden Police were not immediately available for comment.
