Three murders in Zandspruit

Murder incidents highlight the escalating rate of crime in the informal settlement.

Three murder incidents occurred in the Zandspruit Informal Settlement between 27 and 28 June.

Honeydew Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs said the first incident occurred on 27 June – the deceased was stabbed. The following day, another resident was stabbed after a scuffle with a suspect and later on the body of the deceased was found close to the informal settlement by a person who was passing by. Three suspects were arrested subsequent to these murder incidents.

“The third incident was reported on the evening of 28 June on Marina Road next to Zandspruit. The body of the deceased was found by a passer-by. No one has been arrested as yet,” she added.
