UPDATE: Six families, three minutes

LINDEN - Masked gunmen strike again after house party attack in Linden.

Pursuant to our article published on 21 June,

Spokesperson for the Linden Police Station, Captain Alex Vermaak, confirmed that a firearm and a laptop were among the items stolen in the robbery. It was also confirmed that in addition to the driver, there was another male suspect in the getaway vehicle, bringing the total number of suspects to five men.

Another residential armed robbery in Parkview, which occurred about 40 minutes later, has been linked to this incident. “Same vehicle, same modus operandi, and very similar circumstances,” said Capt Vermaak. “This time a family in preparations for a 50th birthday celebration were targeted. Two suspects remained in the vehicle while three armed gunmen stormed the premises to carry out the robbery.

“We don’t want to create panic among residents. But we are concerned about the brazenness of these armed robberies. They were never this brazen before. We have put our heads together and are using our full resources to work with Parkview Police Station on this,” concluded Capt Vermaak.
