New water pipes for Rand Park

RAND PARK – An infrastructure upgrade to pipelines in Rand Park is currently underway.

Work to replace water pipes in the suburb of Rand Park is currently underway.

Contractors have been appointed by Johannesburg Water to replace existing pipes in councillor Laurette van Zijl’s ward.

According to Van Zijl, she is very enthusiastic about the water project and said the area was recorded with the most burst pipes.

“I am very happy about this project because the area is getting some water pipe upgrade.

“The old water pipes are worn out and burst repeatedly, they are about 40 years old and finally giving in,” she said.

The contractors are already digging up one street at a time and are following all Johannesburg Water standards.

Van Zijl said residents will be warned days prior before the water is shut down.

“We are well aware of the inconvenience and if residents have a nice driveway or a garden, then they should take a picture so that it can be restored,” said Van Zijl.

Councillor van Zijl could not confirm when the project is due to end.
