Eagle Canyon best place to live in Joburg

HONEYDEW – Financial Mail's 2015 Best Suburbs survey names Eagle Canyon as one of the best gated estates in Johannesburg.

Eagle Canyon Golf Estate has outperformed other gated estates in Johannesburg. This was revealed in a recent survey that was conducted by the Financial Mail.

Seeff Randburg agent, Fiona Gaisford said the estate is perfectly positioned to reach Lanseria International Airport, the business centres of Sandton, Randburg, Krugersdorp, Pretoria, Johannesburg, and the areas of Hartbeespoort and Magaliesburg and the world renowned heritage site, The Cradle of Humankind.

She added that Honeydew, the suburb where the golf estate is situated, also offers many shopping centres, including the very modern Cradlestone Mall and a number of government and private schools in close proximity, making it the ideal address to have.

“Honeydew is one of the older suburbs, close to the Northgate Shopping Mall, where in the past, people escaped to for a country living lifestyle.

Today the suburb resembles a village, where it is absorbed by a myriad of other suburbs that have emerged in the area, although still retaining a country feel with magnificent views of the Magaliesburg mountains and rolling hills which border the West Rand, Constantia Kloof, Little Falls and Roodekrans,” said Gaisford.

She highlighted that Eagle Canyon Golf Estate originally consisted of about 16 smallholdings and is one of very few estates in South Africa that can truly lay claim to complete individuality based on its distinctive topography. “The estate is situated in what once was an old granite and sand quarry, along canyon cliffs and encapsulates 3000 hectares of land. About 40 years of quarrying by various companies resulted in what is today known as the Eagle Canyon Golf Estate,” shared Gaisgord.

Gaisford mentioned that the estate is not only conveniently situated close to all activities and amenities and only 27 kilometres from the central business district of Johannesburg, but also boasts a superb lifestyle with over 40 hectares of parkland, 12km of tree lined avenues, a spectacular Eco wetland area, ten dams and water features on almost every hole of the 18 hole golf course. “This does not only attract a large variety of bird life, but also offers exquisite views to all houses on the boundary of the course.”

Additional facilities on the estate include a clubhouse, landscaped parks, a driving range, a pro-shop, tennis courts, a gym, spa, hairdresser, catch and release fishing dams and 24-hour estate security, controlled access and security patrols, together with a state of the art control room.
