RANDPARK RIDGE– Rand Park High School First XV cream the competition.

Rand Park High School’s First XV and U15A teams took the Division A honours at this year’s Pirates School Challenge held on 12 June at Pirates Rugby Club.

The teams competed against Northcliff High School for the coveted win in their respective age groups. The First XV team scored 30–18 against Northcliff High, and the U15A team beat Northcliff 28–24. The U14A team lost to Northcliff 8–15 and the U16A team lost to HeronBridge.

Pirates Rugby Club is the top open club in the Golden Lions Rugby Union (GLRU) Premier League. Pirates has started a rugby challenge in the GLRU catchment area for feeder schools into the Pirates Rugby Club with the aim of developing talent in those schools and for the club.

The Division A schools that competed during this season were Rand Park High, Northcliff High, CBC Boksburg, Fourways High and HeronBridge College. The Pirates School Challenge finals are always exciting and physically demanding on the teams who work hard to outperform their opponents. Rob Mildenhall, First XV Coach at Rand Park High School, is extremely proud of his team. He further added, “The team is really fantastic and they deserve their success.”
