BREAKING NEWS: Homeless man pitches tent outside school

RANDPARK RIDGE – A local homeless man has pitched a tent outside of Rand Park Highs sports grounds.

The resident homeless man who begs at the corner of Ysterhout and President Fouché drives has set up home in a tent right outside Rand Park High’s sports grounds.

Residents of Malanshof will recognise him as the man who sometimes sits on a couch at the corner. His name is Mpho Mogotsi (29).

“I sleep here because it is where I get the most jobs,” he said. Mogotsi apparently lives in Diepsloot but chooses his camping grounds outside the school to be closer to the corner. His new abode comprises of a pop-up beach tent with a white plastic sheet in front to enclose the structure. He said, “I try to keep it neat and clean because I sleep in here.”

Heather Robinson, Rand Park High’s marketing, public relations and communications officer said, “We often see him [on the corner]but the tent was erected on 13 June.” According to Mogotsi, he has been sleeping there for about two weeks.

“I get jobs like gardening and sometimes painting although I’m not perfect at that. I love gardening,” said Mogotsi.

There are often other beggars on the corner and this begs the question on how lucrative the intersection is really ? Or, in fact, how one could use begging at robots as a form of networking?
