Four suspects were arrested after a shoot-out with police in North Riding on 10 June. The incident began with an ATM robbery in Cosmo City around 3pm. Twenty minutes later, following a car chase by the cops, a vehicle collision, and a shoot-out, all four suspects found themselves in police custody.
“Following an ATM robbery in Cosmo City, the suspects were pursued by Douglasdale SAPS,” said Jean Berdou, chairperson of the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF). “There were four individuals in the vehicle. The suspects’ vehicle collided with another vehicle on the stretch of Witkoppen Road between Riverbend Road and Pritchard Street. The suspects’ vehicle came to a standstill, and the four fled on foot. Multiple shots were fired, and one of the suspects was shot in the leg by a police officer. The other three suspects were arrested and taken to the Douglasdale Police Station.”
Douglasdale Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Balan Muthan was not immediately available for comment.
The shooting injury is not life-threatening. The investigation is ongoing.
