A woman tragically died in a motor vehicle accident on Witkoppen Road near Waterford Drive in Juskei Park at 9pm on 4 June.
During the freezing hours of the evening a Silver VW Polo crashed into the river on Witkoppen Road near Waterford Drive. According to the Douglasdale Neighbourhood Watch chairperson Sean Gouws, the car came to a stop on its side.
Netcare 911 arrived on scene to find the vehicle on its side. Netcare 911 Media liason Santi Steinmann said, “Upon assessment of the occupant, paramedics found the lifeless body of a woman pinned underneath the vehicle.”
The cause of the accident is unknown to anyone at the scene. Gouws said, “My team arrived at the scene and they could not figure out how the car had completely ramped and ended up at the bottom of the river.”
Steinmann explained, “The woman died prior to arrival of all services and there was nothing further that could be done for her. Sadly she was declared dead at the scene.”
The family was notified and arrived at the scene shortly thereafter.
