BLAIGOWRIE – Two suspects are caught on CCTV footage clip, hijacking a woman in broad daylight.

Two suspects were caught on CCTV footage, hijacking a woman in broad daylight in Blairgowrie on 1 June.

According to SAPS operation manager Captain Alex Vermaak, “A woman was picking up her granddaughter on Nielson Drive at 9am. But while she stopped at the gate to strap her granddaughter into the back car seat, two armed men approached her.

“The suspects stole her silver 2006 Corsa,” said Capt Vermaak.

He stated that the two suspects pointed a gun at the 65-year-old woman’s head and demanded her car.

Fortunately, the woman managed to get her granddaughter out of the car safely before the hijackers drove off.

“I would like to urge residents to be vigilant when they park on the street, make certain that they switch off their car and lock it,” added Capt Vermaak.

He said that a case has been opened at Linden Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
