Local resident and tennis student at Advantage Tennis Academy, Jessica Portwig has been chosen to represent South Africa, in America.
Portwig has been selected as one of the players for the SA school’s U13 tennis team.
She explained that she was selected following the SA Inter-Provincial tournament that took place in March.
Her coach Gareth Gibson said that she will be travelling with the team to the USA in August and that they will be staying with a host family.
Portwig said, “I am very glad that I have been selected for the TSA team and I’m excited to represent my country in America. I think it will be a great learning experience for me.”
Gibson added that their itinerary includes training at Futuretennis Inc and a one-day tournament followed by a match between the SA team and a team from Louisiana.
“Jessica works extremely hard in every training session. She’s very dedicated and strives for excellence. Her recent tournament results have been very positive, and we hope the trip to the US will strengthen her desire to achieve even more in the years ahead,” concluded Gibson.
