RANDPARK RIDGE – Rand Park High School hosts a fête and a sports derby against Fourways High School.

Rand Park High School hosted a derby day and Squires fête with Fouways High School on 30 May.

Netball, hockey, and rugby were played on the school’s premises during the morning.

Principal at Rand Park High School Alan Wilke was pleased with the school’s organisation of both events. “We were very pleased to host the [event]. There were many nail-biting matches that were closely contested right up until the final minutes of their games and we congratulate each team on their spirit and effort,” he said.

Wilke explained that the fête also offered an opportunity for the school’s charity organisation The Squires to raise funds for the school and the charities they support. “We acknowledge all our Squires, their parents, families, our staff and other exhibitors on an outstanding effort to make the fête a success and thank everyone who supported them in their fundraising efforts, he said.

Marketing, public relations and communications officer at Rand Park High School Heather Robinson said that the school received great support at the event.

She revealed that the fête formed a large part of the Squires’ fundraising efforts. “The funds collected will be used toward the betterment of our school and also towards a chosen charity which this year is The Ann Harding Cheshire Home for the Disabled,” Robinson said.

The sport results for the day were:

  • Rand Park High School first rugby team beat Fourways High 20–18
  • The first team boy’s hockey lost 2–1 to Rand Park
  • The first team girl’s hockey lost 6–0 to Fourways High.
