Triple the cricket talent

RANDPARK RIDGE – Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge cricketers make their school proud during their Sri Lanka tour.

Three pupils from Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge recently went on the Heritage Cricket Tour XI held in Sri Lanka. They were chosen out of all the players of 16 schools who participated in the Potchefstroom Heritage Cricket Festival during September last year.

Grade 10 pupil Stefan Fourie, Grade 11 pupil Jordon Nel and matric pupil Tim Kingaby went on the tour in April and May.

“The tour was all about developing our skills on the pitch. It was interesting learning how different cricket is in Sri Lanka,” said Fourie. Nel and Kingaby are good with the ball and have been able to hold their own with the bat, while Fourie bats in the top four at Trinityhouse and has performed well in his role.

“We made lots of friends on the tour. They really play quality cricket in Sri Lanka,” said Nel.

Due to this tour, the three pupils will be on the radar of the scouts for this year’s Heritage Cricket Festival in September.

Headmaster of Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge, Christo de Wit said, “We are tremendously proud of our three boys and wish them all of the best for the [September] festival. We know that they have gained immeasurable experience on the tour and have come back not only better cricketers but more experienced individuals.”
