WINDSOR EAST – Massive raid is conducted by Linden SAPS in Windsor East.

A massive, collaborative raid was conducted on 14 May in Windsor East and other areas by Linden SAPS, Metro Police, Chubb, Securitas, ADT, Qumic, Ghost Squad and Mahalo.

This group effort saw dozens of officials swarming the streets of drug and robbery hotspot Windsor East in search of suspicious items, particularly on Beatrice Street and Duchesses Avenue in Windsor East.

Officials bravely searched and seized drugs, drug-related items, housebreaking-in tools (files, scissors, and screwdrivers). Mattresses and sleeping areas along the sides of the road were turned upside down to ensure that everything was completely checked. Belongings left in these areas were rummaged through and officers found knives, stolen items, IDs and bank cards. Also found were nyaope and dagga, including associated paraphernalia such as needles and pipes.
Lieutenant Colonel Zaieed Masthan of Linden SAPS said, “We have to do this on a regular basis to ensure that the streets remain free of drugs and criminals. We need these sleeping areas to be removed or else the suspects will return the same night.”
The raid expanded to all areas in the greater Linden area including Blairgowrie, Windsor West and Linden. Search inspections were held in response to all suspicious activities including drug dealing or, in one case, a group of men smoking dagga – illegal immigrants were also rounded up.
The raid will continue for the rest of the week.

More details will follow once the raid has been completed and final figures have been collated by the Linden SAPS.
