Malanshof clean up

MALANSHOF – Join the Malanshof river bank clean up.

The Malanshof community will take back their river banks during a clean up on 15, 16 and 17 May.

Concerned resident and co-organiser Priscilla Cillié said, “The [City of Johannesburg] never came to clean up the river banks after the floods in February. We as a community will be taking it in our own hands.” The event has been shared on the area’s social media groups.

Residents will be meeting at the corner Troupant and Gertrude streets at 9am on each of the three days. “Even if residents stay for one hour to help us clean up it will be beneficial,” said Cillie.

The rubbish left on the banks due to the devastating floods are items such as old furniture – mattresses, couches – plastic bags and more general rubbish.

“We will be filling up a red a six cubic metre bin. All residents need to bring is their own gloves as we will be providing black bags,” she concluded.
