BREAKING: Man beaten, bound and dumped

OLIVEDALE - Man in critical condition after being left for dead.

A man is fighting for his life after being found in a critical condition on the corner of Jacaranda Avenue and Amsterdam Drive, Olivedale, on 9 May. He was found tied up and severely injured. “We received the call at 10.35am that eyewitnesses had allegedly seen a man thrown off the back of a vehicle,” said Emer-G-Med spokesperson Danielle Dooley.

“We were the first on scene… He appears to have been bound by the hands and feet, and was allegedly beaten. He has critical injuries to the head, back, left arm and anckle.” The man could not breathe on his own, and received advanced life support.

A Netcare 911 vehicle transported him to Helen Joseph Hospital for further care. Douglasdale Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Balan Muthan said that a case would be opened for the matter, but he could not say what case yet. The man is believed to be in his 30s.
