Man dies after two cars collide

NORTH RIDING- Road collision on Northumberland results in the death of man.

A man died after two cars collided on Northumberland Avenue, near Aureole Avenue on 6 May.

According to Netcare 911 paramedics, they received a call for assistance at 10.40pm at night, and upon arrival at the scene, they found two

vehicles involved in a side impact collision.

According to Stan Steinmann Netcare 911’s media liaison officer, one vehicle came to a standstill on the side of the roadway following the impact and upon assessment, paramedics found a man to be in a critical condition.

The man was entrapped in the vehicle and Jaws of Life had to be used to extricate the injured man from the mangled remains of the vehicle.

Tragically the man’s condition deteriorated due to the extensive injuries sustained during the crash and the man tragically died at the scene,

where he was declared dead.

Upon assessment of the occupants from the other vehicle, paramedics found that a woman and two children were also injured during the

crash and after receiving treatment at the scene, the injured patients were transported to hospital for further medical care.

Exact details surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events remains the subject of a police investigation.
