Cars broken into on 7th Street

LINDEN – Captain Alex Vermaak says residents should vigilant after three cars were broken into on 7th Street on 6 May.

Upon waking up on 7 May resident Ché Wannenburg noticed that three vehicles close to her property had been broken into the previous night.

She explained that the property is located on 7th Street – an area that is known for being riddled with crimes of these sort.

“They broke into three cars, stole wheels off one car and broke into a neighbour’s car, they also tried to break into my car by bending the door open.”

She added that the perpetrators accessed her property through the neighbour’s property by jumping over the perimeter wall.

“The poor man whose bakkie’s wheels had been stolen doesn’t have money to replace them,” she concluded.

Linden SAPS Operations Manager Captain Alex Vermaak says that a docket has been opened at Linden Police and an investigation has been opened following the incident.

He added that neglect by residents is one of the main reasons why this happened. “It’s not enough to have an alarm inside your house because the criminals can jump over the walls and no one will be aware of it; exactly the same as happened in this incident. Install an alarm outside and make sure your perimeter wall is safe and secured.”

Details: Linden Police 011 888 921.
