NAB pays for student’s education

NORTH RIDING - NAB reaches out to brighten the future of a young man from the Mother of Peace home.

For the past two years NAB has been supporting Mother of Peace Children’s Home as part of its CSI initiatives.

Gill Randall, Joint MD of NAB said, “Instead of spending money on client birthdays and Christmas gifts, we have put

all our efforts and funds towards two particular charities in need, one being Mother of Peace. This year we’re especially pleased to be able to help a young man move closer to his dream career.”

Mother of Peace in North Riding is run by a group of volunteers who dedicate their lives to looking after 24 amazing children.

Pat, Bill, Val and Marion are based at Mother of Peace and care for the day-to-day needs of the children who range from five to 20 years of age.

All the children come from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds, some having experienced physical, sexual and psychological abuse.

Mother of Peace is currently supporting their eldest child, Fanie Motaung, with his studies at CTI College in Randburg to study IT Engineering.

As part of NAB’s donation this year, the company contributed toward his education fund for 2015, because NAB strongly believes education is a fundamental tool for a child’s future.

“We are delighted to assist Fanie through his studies this year, and we wish him loads of success in achieving his future goals,” said Gill.

Fanie and his sister Palesa, were found in need of care in 2006. Palesa was placed at Sparrow Ministries in Florida but was subsequently transferred to Guild Cottage in Johannesburg in 2008. Fanie was placed in the foster care of Chris Lessing, the former employer of his mother, who had passed away.

“Fanie attended Beatus Private College and wrote Grade 12 Cambridge exams at the end of 2013. He attended a holiday programme at Gordon’s Institute for Business studies (GIBS) in November 2013. He obtained his matric and is now registered with CTI College in Randburg to study IT engineering for one year,” explained Mother of Peace’s volunteer, Marion.

NAB wishes Fanie all the best for this year and we look forward to watching him grow into a highly successful IT professional.
