Lauren Blight is an inspiring and talented 14-year-old pupil of Hoërskool Randburg , Fontainebleau.
Blight represented Gauteng in the national round of Talent Africa held in Roodepoort in March. During this exciting show she won four gold medals, two silver medals and special award – Top 10 vocals, and was selected to represent South Africa at Talent America in New York later this year.
Blight is currently rehearsing for her high school production which will be running from 6 to the 9 May at the Fringe Theatre in Johannesburg.
She also attended a two-week Broadway Productions Showcase Experience workshop with FADCreations during the recent school holidays. The workshop was held in Pretoria and started on 30 March. After 10 days of intensive training with Ferdinand & Diani Gernandt (acting and choreography) and Marlee van der Merwe (vocals), the cast and crew performed three shows – “Follicle the Musical”(written by Gernandt), at Monte De Dios in Pretoria.
Blight portrayed the role of Brenda – the character who was mad at everybody in Talentville. “The role challenged me as I needed to sing, dance and act,” she said. “I received training in singing and acting but had no formal training in dancing and had to work hard at getting all the dancing under the knee. I loved every minute of this experience as I made so many new friends and got to do what I love.”
