RANDPARK RIDGE – Local childcare service Sherpa Kids was awarded second place in a recent competition. The business based in Randpark Ridge received the award from the Franchise Association of South Africa (FASA) in their newcomer franchisor of the year competition. “It is only our first year, as we started in December 2013, so I am very chuffed about this award being awarded to Sherpa Kids,” said Sherpa Kids South Africa managing director, Genevieve Allen.

“I am also excited at the fact that it [is] a different kind of business because we are supporting families and communities by really providing a service that is needed.”

Allen explained that after working in the education industry for 20 years, she has a “passionate commitment” to learning in South Africa.

“As such, I was motivated to launch this business and offer an out-of-school-hours programme that works,” she concluded.

According to Allen, the award salutes the innovative entrepreneurship of newcomers to FASA. The winner in the newcomer of the year was awarded to Midek Paint Direct and third place went to Bodytec.
