RADIOKOP – Charity Drive helps raise funds for the Epic Foundation.

O’Hagan’s Rock Cottage hosted their own version of the Amazing Race on 25 April. In the name of charity the Radiokop Restaurant dubbed theirs the Charity Drive.“The O’Hagan’s Rock Cottage Women’s Club hosts the Charity Drive every year to raise funds for specific charity organisations. This year we chose the Epic Foundation,” said the company’s owner Theresa Fouché.

The foundation empowers survivors of rape and abuse. The race started at the Keg & Eagle in Retail Crossing Centre where the teams ate a buffet breakfast and then were given clues to decipher. Hooters Ruimsig, Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden, Virgin Active Red, Jim and Jerry’s Driving Range, UFO House Kloofendal, China Mall, Frosties Pub, Jump N Play, Clearwater Harley-Davidson and Checkers Little Falls were the destinations that each of the teams had to visit.

Some Fear factor was incorporated into the game as teams had to eat boiled tripe. Each team was dressed as something funky. Chairperson of the club Brenda Stanley expressed her gratitude to everyone who made the event successful. “This is our third annual drive and we are so glad that we can lend a helping hand to the Epic Foundation,” she said.

First prize was a helicopter flip over Johannesburg. The winners were the Bankers team. “Giving back to charity was the whole aim of today. Winning the race was just an extra bonus for us. It is a very good feeling to give back to those [who] need help,” expressed Banker team member Kurt Lemmer.
