Linden SAPS Operations Manager Captain Alex Vermaak warns of theft of and theft out of motor vehicles in the Linden Precinct.

“There has been a substantial number of cases pertaining to vehicles and theft out of vehicles that have been reported over the past week. Residents are asked to please be vigilant when driving and not to leave anything valuable in sight and make sure their navigation is not left out as well,” urged Vermaak.

Vermaak recommends that residents make sure their vehicles are parked in a well-lit place at all times.

“Owners of VW Polos and Toyotas are asked to be extra careful as these models of cars are being targeted. Make sure your car is parked in a safe area and locked properly at all times.

Jamming is of concern at the three Spars in the Linden Precinct, namely Robindale, Malanshof and Ferndale, he said.

“Please make sure once you have locked your car, double check again that it is in fact locked.”

Tips from Capt Vermaak for vehicle safety:

• Alarm must always be on

• Double check if your vehicle is locked

• Park your car in a well-lit area

• Remain vigilant when driving

Vermaak urged motorists to remain cautious when driving in Windsor West and along Braam Fischer in Ferndale.
