Ex- Bafana Bafana star dies

RANDBURG – Paramedics discover five burned bodies including that of Richard Henyeke trapped in a car.

Richard Walker of the Randburg Football Club has passed his condolences regarding the death of former Bafana Bafana player Richard Henyekane who died in a car accident in the early hours of 7 April.

“I am very shocked he died at such a young age. He was taken from the world too soon. He was a decent goal scorer and had a bright future ahead of him,” said Walker.

Henyekane was in a light motor vehicle with four other passengers who also succumbed to the fatal crash.

The vehicle collided with a truck.

ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the truck and light motor vehicle sitting in the right lane of the road, according to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

Both vehicles were on fire.

Meiring said fire services battled for some time to extinguish both vehicles.

“Once the fire was extinguished, paramedics discovered the burnt bodies of three males and two females lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle.”

The driver of the truck had sustained only minor injuries in the collision and was treated on scene.

“We wish to say to the Henyekane family that they must know that we are with them at all times, and trust that they will put all their sorrows in the hands of God the Almighty in this hard period,” read a statement on the clubs official website.

The former Bafana Bafana international earned nine caps, and also represented Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows.

The cause of the collision is not yet known.
