GALLERY: Rockin’ at St Stithians

RANDBURG - Two concerts were recently held at St Stithians College to celebrate their annual Easter Sports Festival.

St Stithians College hosted two celebratory concerts on Thursday 2 April and Saturday 4 April, which coincided with the school’s annual Easter Sports Festival. The ‘Concert 4U’ event, sponsored by Vodacom 4U, showcased some of the most popular acts in South Africa.

Marketing officer at St Stithians College Charlene Bolleurs was extremely proud to host these events for pupils. “The concert events St Stithians Easter Sports Festival has proved to be hugely popular. Vodacom 4U’s generous sponsorship allowed us to attract top talent, with St Stithians showcasing its own performers to delight the large attending crowds”

Both concerts were presented by Boys College pupil Nikyle Reddy, who introduced all of the performers. Additionally a number of pupils from each of the respective schools also performed before the bigger acts took to the stage. These performers consisted of pupils Emily Fields, the Boys’ college HipHop Club, Ashlinn Gray, Stephane Marais with his band ‘Montreal Love Story’, and Daniel Pawson with his band ‘Last Chance Seattle.’

Highlights from the first concert involved music industry icon Thato Sikhwane (DJ FRESH) who showcased a memorable performance. The crowds thoroughly enjoyed his upbeat and lively music. Also appearing were dynamic, dance-electro duo of The Illustrators. Members of the band consisted of Dominic Neill on vocals and Thomas Padi on the decks. Representatives from Tiger Brands also gave away a number of hampers and prizes to attending pupils.

Regardless of the rainy weather the second concert featured the musical stylings of the live electronic duo of The Kiffness that provided jazzy, groovy & uplifting house music to the attending crowds and the electro and progressive house performance of DJ duo of Pascal & Pearce who ended the eventful evening by providing thumping tunes to a crowd of excited pupils and fans.
