Saints lose to Westville 4–3

RANDBURG – St Stithians' best was not enough.

St Stithians Boys College lost to Westville Boys’ High School 4–3 in an intense hockey match on 02 April. The match was one of the first hockey fixtures of the St Stithians College Easter Sports Festival. The boys from KwaZulu-Natal pressed hard, and scored first early in the first half. But Saints rallied with positive play and returned the pressure to equalise a few minutes later.

Saints kept their momentum and dominated possession for most of the game. But in the few opportunities that Westville had, they put the ball into the goal. Saints had their opportunities too, but Westville’s defence held strong. “It was a high intensity game,” said Saints coach Mark Sanders. “Both teams worked hard but soft errors gave away the goals.”
