Easter at home ideas

JOBURG – During the school holidays, have some fun with the children and create your own Easter arts and crafts.

When it comes to Easter and school holidays a lot of fun can be had when creating your own Easter arts and crafts.

Rainbow eggs

Steps:

1. Food colouring – blue, red and yellow – with these you can make all sorts of colours.

2. Some eggs.

3. Get creative – dip, paint, splash the colours to create your own funky design.

Easter stick puppets

Steps:

1. Collect ice-cream sticks, printed pictures of bunnies or chicks.

2. Colour the pictures in.

3. Paint the ice cream sticks any colour you like.

4. Stick the pictures to sticks and, presto, you have your very own homemade Easter-themed puppets.

Potato paintings

Steps:

1. Cut a potato in half.

2. Then carve a shape – whether it is an egg or beak for a chick or even some bunny ears. (Tip: you can use a craft knife or spoon to carve out the designs.)

3. With the leftover food colouring from the previous egg decorating, pour the liquid into saucers.

4. Dip the potato into the colours and begin the fun of stamping your creative drawing.

5. Use the beak to start drawing a chick or the bunny ears for a cute Easter bunny.

Finally, have some fun in the back garden or in your house. Hide some of the decorated eggs and get the children to have a mini Easter-egg hunt.
