March crime trend for Sector 2

HONEYDEW – Burglaries increase, assault and attempted murder down in Honeydew Sector 2.

Honeydew Sector 2 manager Sergeant Nicholas Makhura reported on which crimes increased and decreased in the sector compared to March last year. He did this during the Sector’s monthly Community Policing Forum meeting at the Honeydew Police Station on 26 March. Sgt Makhura would not divulge exact statistics to the public.

Crimes that increased:

  • Residential burglary
  • Business burglary
  • Residential robbery

Crimes that decreased:

  • Domestic violence
  • Hijacking
  • Sexual offences
  • Attempted murder
  • Assault

Incidents involving these crimes were discussed at the meeting. Sgt Makhura added that Honeydew Police’s priority crimes include murder, residential robbery, residential burglary, business robbery, business burglary and theft of motor vehicles. Areas in Honeydew Sector 2 include Allen’s Nek, Constantia, Devon Valley, Panorama, parts of Randpark Ridge, and Weltevreden Park.
