GALLERY and SOUND BITE: 100 blankets by Ryan
NORTH RIDING – Young Ryan steps into big shoes to collect 100 blankets for the Randburg SPCA by the end of May.

Steinhobel is 14 years old and he attends Maragon Private Schools in Ruimsig. “I got the idea when I saw the SPCA’s Facebook post asking for blankets,” said Ryan. “I drive past the SPCA every morning on the way to school; I thought how cold and freezing the dogs must be. I felt so sorry for them in a small space with not much warmth,” he added.
He will be handing out posters in his complex and community as well as appealing to every class in his school. “My aim is to collect as many blankets as possible,” Ryan further added “I have always loved animals because I have five dogs, three cats and 17 fish at home.”

General manager at SPCA Randburg Craig Rudman said, “I am incredibly proud of Ryan. There are about 75 dogs here and we need blankets all the time.” Ryan has set a goal for himself to collect the 100 or more blankets by the end of May when it gets really cold.
