Nothing but the best for Cosmo City

COSMO CITY — Cosmo City ready to go live and change the game.

Cosmo FM was officially launched on 19 March with what will be a community radio station like no other.

The station’s team leader and founder Ntabi Ditshekgo said she first had the idea for a community station in 2012. This was the first announcement on what the station was and will be.

“I noticed that there was no community radio station in the greater north of Johannesburg and that is where the idea came from. The station is going on air officially on 27 April, Freedom Day on 90.5. Our focus will be on community issues.”

Cosmo FM will broadcast to Cosmo City, Lion Park, Diepsloot, Zandspruit, North Riding, Randburg and Kya Sand. It will also be the first community radio station to have a channel that will have a live feed of parliamentary feed. It will broadcast in three languages: English, Zulu and Tswana/Sotho.

Ditshekgo said they hoped to have a soup kitchen and a training school for prospective DJs and people interested in broadcast.

Amanda Mchunu said they have had more than 150 people auditioned to be part of the new team at Cosmo FM. “At the end of the day we will choose 23 of the best people that will present and produce their own shows.”

She said they were particularly looking for people with very little experience but with great creativity to training and horn their skills.
