The sky is just the starting point

RANDBURG – M-Net is progressing its commitment to nurturing new talent by offering previously disadvantaged final year film and TV graduates the chance to be a part of 12 coveted internships.

Sivela “Sky” Mgudu has been selected to be a part of the 2015 M-Net Magic in Motion Academy.

Started in 2014, M-Net Magic in Motion is the company’s flagship corporate social investment programme.

Mgudu (26) is a Cape Peninsula University of Technology graduate, based in Randburg.

He would like to own his own production company one day, to do work for a company like M-Net, and create a better world of entertainment through South African movies and television.

He is the younger of two sons to a singer mother.

Due to financial constraints, he worked through varsity to help pay for his studies.“I have always wanted to be in the television industry. The thought of working with the likes of Bomb Films, Studio Zoo and Vuzu one day, are always on my mind. The exposure I am hoping to get from South Africa’s A-listers, through the M-Net Magic in Motion Academy makes me feel like I’ve made it already,” said Mgudu.

Mgudu is excited to gain hands-on experience through the Academy, and learn more about visual effects, acting and conceptualising stories.

He has always had an interest in directing and the intricacies of editing and visual effects.

“I have always had an eye for merging visuals and music together that tells a compelling story,” added Mgudu.

From a young age, Mgudu fell in love with science fiction and creating an imaginary world with fictitious characters with cool powers.

As a gaming analyst, he enjoys playing on his PlayStation and watching tutorials about how to create graphics, cloning and teleportation – all related to editing.
